August 18- 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Jesus said to the crowds:
“I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever;and the bread that I will giveis my flesh for the life of the world.”
Jesus said to them,”Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood ,you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day.

The Gospel in your Family

This week’s theme is Life of the World. As Catholics we believe that when we gather to celebrate the Mass, Jesus is present to us in many ways: in the Word proclaimed, in the presence of the people and in the Eucharist. Jesus taught us that He is the living bread and whomever eats this bread will live forever and he if the life of the world.

For reflection and to discuss:

  • Is the Eucharist (Communion) important to you? Why?
  • In the gospel we see many people very confused about what Jesus has told them. When you do not understand or have questions about faith teachings, who are some people you can talk to so you can learn more and understand better?
  • Is it easy or hard to talk about Jesus to those who don’t know him? Why?
